1)To Hire a Piper

Hire a piper today! Yes, this means YOU! I mean, YOU hire ME! Why?

I am available for any event you can imagine. Over the years I have appeared at countless events, including

Workshops: I have given bagpipe workshops at schools, festivals and museums. Learn about the different bagpipes of the world, and their history. Find out what makes a bagpipe work! I bring lots of interesting items for people to look at.
Weddings: Whether your wedding is indoors, outdoors, in a church or at the courthouse, a piper can help make the occasion something special! I have years of experience playing for weddings; my repertoire is such that I can handle most special requests that you might have.

When I got married a few years back, I told the organist to stay at home! There is NOTHING like the sound of the pipes in a church, in a hall or even in it's natural habitat, ie. the Great Outdoors. This is a sound that will touch your hearts, and your families' hearts as well.

I always say, "the pipes are ready when you are". This is all so true! I require very little set up. I need no sheet music, so there is no need to worry that I will forget it. My instrument requires no electricity, so I can play anywhere, at any time, even during a power outage!

Perhaps best of all, is that I am ready to adapt to any sudden changes your wedding might demand. So these are just a few great reasons to contact me for your wedding!

Funerals: Amazing Grace, Flowers of the Forest, Macrimmon Will Never Return, Oft in the Stilly Night, Danny Boy. These are but a few of the tunes I have played at funerals. Hire a piper who understands the seriousness and importance of a good presentation for saying farewell to your dearly departed. I am at the top of the list for a some of Montreal's biggest funeral services companies. They know that I give prompt, courteous, professional service to all of their customers. Give them a call, and most can vouch for me.
Schools: I can either do workshops in your school (see above), or play for important events (grads, international culture days, etc.). A small show with myself and a few highland dancers always goes over quite well for children of all ages. Several schools in the Montreal area have had me back several times for their convocations.
Birthday parties: I can play "Happy Birthday" or "Gens du Pays", no problem. The only thing I don't do is pop out of cakes! Often these events are done as a surprise... and I like surprises!
Retirement parties: I have played for quite a few of these, usually as a surprise. Send off your boss or co-worker in style by having me come and play a few tunes!
Golfing events: In 2003 year I played at Le Club de Golf de Candiac, Le Royal Bromont, Le Mirage, Knowlton Golf Club and Kaniwaki Golf Club, to name a few.

For any important event at your club whether it is a tournament or a special dinner, have a piper to add that special touch. Often the club will have me play at the first tee as all of the teams make their drives... a sure test of skill for any golfer! It's all in the name of fun and tradition though, and people generally like it as it is a reminder as to the country of origin of the sport of golf... aye, that would be bonnie Scotland.

Curling events: you can't have a Bonspiel without a bit of ceremony. Especially when some of your guest teams are coming from another city, another province or another country! So do things with a bit of flair and hire a piper to do the opening ceremonies! I play most commonly at The Royal Montreal Curling Club, the oldest Curling Club in North America, so needless to say, they understand that Curling and tradition go hand in hand!

What? Are you surprised to find out that Curling is a Scottish Sport? Well indeed it is one more of those great gifts given to us by the Scots. So the next time your Club hosts an important event, whether it be a Bonspiel, a party or an important dinner, remember that it isn't complete without the sound of the pipes.

Remembrance ceremonies: many a Legion chooses me for their Remembrance Day Parade, as I have years of experience playing for such events. Some Legions have had me on for years, such as Greenfield Park, NDG, and Chambly. My ongoing military commitment can make it hard to book me, but for weekend gigs that are NOT on November 11th, I often can be counted on to parade with your members. I know all the main tunes for such an event and have a few other surprises up my sleeve...!
Conventions: there is nothing like the sound of Pipes & Drums for starting off your event, playing in your Guests of Honour etc. If your company has an important event, I can help organize to get a few pipers or a mini band to help you out.
Festivals: The World Scottish Festival 1992, The Gould Festival of Scottish Traditions, The Montreal Celtic Music Festival, Le Festival Mondiale de La Bière, La Fête des Enfants, The Montreal International Jazz Festival...
Irish/Scottish Cultural Events: I think is already covered by the various types of events mentioned above, but
Bar Mitzvahs: Yes it has been done. And the Cantor taught me a few good songs to play too! Oy!

I can get a drummer to join me for your event, or a mini-band. I can get highland dancers to accompany me, and together we put on a pretty good one hour show. A piper can add a touch of class to any event!

Shuttle Pipes  French Musette, upon which shuttle pipes are based

Jeff also has a set of shuttle pipes (based on a French musette) which he can play at occasions which require a much quieter sound. These pipes are made by John Walsh in Antigonish (see links page).

If you are seeking a sound that is somewhere "in between" shuttle pipes and great highland bagpipes, Jeff also has a set of border pipes which he can play.
